Irish Theatre Artists is a database project which aims to present and promote the work of Irish theatre and dance professionals in Ireland and worldwide. Launched in May 2008, this Irish Theatre Institute online resource is an illustrated, up-to-date, searchable database of Irish theatre practitioners: Actors, Dancers, Directors, Designers, Choreographers, Lighting Designers, Composers, Production Managers, Stage Managers and more – effectively a webpage per theatre artist, and created by that artist.
The web resource is freely available online and marketed toward Irish and International performing arts practitioners seeking to work with Irish theatre and dance professionals. Other potential users included researchers, academics, journalists, critics, reviewers in Ireland and worldwide.
New profiles are being added on a daily basis. It is estimated that the database will contain in excess of 1000 profiles by 2009. Artists and practitioners can log-in to their page and revise and update their information at any stage. All participants will be reminded by email to update/confirm information twice yearly, and their profile will be removed if participants fail to confirm their contact information.
The construction and maintenance of this database completes Irish Theatre Institute’s portal of comprehensive, searchable and up-to-date information on every aspect of Irish theatre and dance.
